Hola mi gente!!
So….. I have some super exciting news to share with y’all. I’m getting Married!! I’m marrying my best friend! I couldn’t be more happy y excited!! Quick back story to how we met, we met online and FaceTimed for about 5yrs. Year five, I moved from VA to Chicago. The day I was moving I remember it snowed so hard on my to Chicago. I was trying to surprise him after I got here but I couldn’t wait so I FaceTimed him to surprise him on my drive there. We celebrated my birthday and been inseparable since.
Being single for two years from a eight year common law marriage(in the state of Texas); I had gained back my independence…myself. I had time to figure out what I wanted in a relationship, what I would or wouldn’t put up with and above all how I wanted to be treated. When I say that after meeting my husband in person I felt like I was dreaming! He is perf! Perhaps it’s our imperfects that make us so perfect one another.I have found the one whom my soul loves.
My fiancé, is everything I ever wanted in a person, in a man, in a bestie! He is the most amazingly kind human being. I confess! Most women won’t! But I will and I am! I’m no saint lol! But, being completely honest I can be a bit superficial and maybe a bit judgmental at times. When I first started talking to him I fell hard for his appearance, then his scene of humor, his love for life and living his life no filter….(he’s the kind of person to dance in the rain like nobody’s watching) and then when I finally met him could physically touch him was captivated by his mind! When I first met him, I never realized how much he would end up meaning to me. I fell in love with him with his mind he really knows how to mentally stimulate my mind. That…that’s mucho caliente!!
When he told me he loved me and wanted to marry me, I was overjoyed…I even think I teared up a bit. I, have always been the first to say,”I love you.” This was an overwhelmingly amazing feeling. I knew that from the first time, first day, second and minute he said those words,”I love you,” I knew he genuinely meant it. I wanted to say it first but for fear I’d push him away I think that’s why he was able to say it first lol. I’m only kidding! Idk who should say it first but I feel if a man says it first he truly means it from his corazón. I fell in love with him because of a million tiny things that he never knew he were doing.
2019 was a crazy busy year for us- our first physical year together. We moved in together with his now our Jack Russell. Spent our first birthdays and holidays together. Speaking of holidays, we cooked our first Turkey day dinner together. Team work makes the dream work! Surprisingly to both of us it came out fabulously. Super busy working on our recording label, websites and new launch of our Rockitpockit line.
By the time Christmas rolled around we were officially engaged. We feel and have felt that people don’t just cross your path for no reason. Sometimes it’s to teach you a lesson, some meant to stay and some meant to make their grand exits. We decided to jump on this crazy road we call life together as an unstoppable force.
People say that your wedding will likely be the biggest party you’ll ever throw—and figuring out how to plan a wedding step by step can feel pretty daunting! I’ve been to a few weddings but at the end of the day my childhood fairytale wedding isn’t in the cards but that’s perfectly acceptable.
I believe relationships can come about in many ways, and it’s just as valid when love is years in the making. But when it is truly love at first sight — I think it’s terribly romantic and beautiful and worth noting. In Sex & the City, Carrie Bradshaw ended up marrying Big at the Courthouse in a simple white vintage suit and statement heels. My dream dress, is a WHITE BY VERA WANG DRAPED TAFFETA WEDDING DRESS. (Pic below)
Strapless taffeta gown with asymmetrically draped bodice, scooped neckline and full ball gown tulle skirt.
- Designed with 100 yards of tulle, this gown represents the classic Vera Wang aesthetic.
- Modern cathedral-length train (72″ from waist). Fully lined. Back zip. Dry clean only.
Ahh! Perfecto! Right?! I’m in love and have been in love with this dress for awhile. But to be honest, the older I’ve gotten I don’t feel it necessary to throw a huge wedding or any wedding at all. Is that weird?! We both are thinking about something small as well as budget which is a huge factor in planning a wedding.
Been through a couple of dress shops snapped many photos of beautiful dresses but, I feel like I look best in that dress. After, much window shopping and fittings…I feel I have found my dress which I will marry my husband in on our special day…and it won’t be my Vera Wang but rather my classic vintage white Calvin Klein dress. Simple and elegant.
Stay tuned to see my next upcoming blog of our wedding and reception dinner.
